Play YouTube videos in VLC media player



Many people daily watch different kinds of videos on YouTube . But it is not necessary to be on the YouTube website to watch the videos. You can also watch the YouTube videos without being on the YouTube website. All you need is URL of the YouTube videos which you want to watch and VLC media player installed on your computer. VLC media player is a free media player which plays nearly all kinds of videos. You can also play YouTube videos in VLC media player. Watching YouTube videos in VLC media player is a good option as there are no advertisements and comments visible. So you can fully concentrate on the videos and also save your time.

Follow the below procedure to play YouTube videos in VLC media player:-

 Copy the URL of the YouTube video which you want to watch.

 Open VLC media player and click on Media and select Open Network Stream…

 In the Open Media window that opens, Click on the Network tab and under Please enter a network URL: paste the URL of the YouTube video which you copied earlier and click on the Play button.

 The YouTube video will now start to play in the VLC media player. You can pause, stop or watch the video in full screen if you want.


Selecting the quality of YouTube videos in VLC media player:-

You can select the resolution in which you want the YouTube videos to be played in VLC media player. By default the videos are played in their best available resolution but you can change that if you want by following the procedure below:-

 Open VLC media player and click on Tools and select preferences.

 In the Simple Preferences window that opens, select the radio button All under Show settings to switch to full preferences view. In the search bar type preferred video resolution.

 Click on Input/Codes. On the right side under Track settings is the option of Preferred video resolution in which Best available is selected which is the default setting. If you do not change it then YouTube videos would be played in their maximum resolution which is available for those videos. Click on the drop down button to see other options. If you select Full HD (1080p), the videos would be played in 1080p resolution if it is available for those videos otherwise they would be played in the maximum resolution which is available. If you select HD (720p), the videos would be played in 720p resolution if it is available for those videos otherwise they would be played in the maximum resolution which is available. There is also the option of Standard Definition. You can select the resolution according to your internet connection speed. You can select Low Definition or Very Low Definition if you have slow internet speed. After selecting the desired resolution, click on the Save button to close the window and restart VLC media player for the changes to take effect.
